UNSW Summer School on Ferroelectrics 2018

The Summer School on Ferroelectrics (UNSW-SSF ‘18) will be held at the University of New South Wales, Sydney from 5th of February until 9th of February 2018.

Last day to register is 15th of December 2017. Please note that we can accommodate only limited number of participants for this School, and registration will close early if we reach the desired numbers.

The UNSW-SSF ‘18 aims at attracting PhD students, post-doctoral researchers, young scientists and senior researchers working in the field of ferroelectrics for five days in the vibrant city of Sydney, to build up future Asia-Pacific ferroelectrics community. The school will focus on fundamental science, as well as cutting edge and emerging applications. The School will cover basic concepts of ferroelectricity in the beginning, intended for researchers/students who are new to the field, and gradually move towards advanced concepts. Please refer to Program for more details.

Fundamental notions of ferroelectricity, piezoelectricity, and multiferroics will be covered, followed by more specific topics such as thin films, interfaces, domain walls and key advanced characterization and computational techniques. To assist participant learning, lab demonstrations/experiments will constitute ~30% of the content. Finally, networking opportunities will be offered through a range of social activities, including a welcome reception and trivia night.
